From 1st January 2021 and further changes on 1st July 2021:
Value Added Tax (VAT) is now only applied for sales to be delivered within the UK.
For sales to European Union (EU) destinations, there may be additional charges for the recipient to pay required by the Customs of the recieving country to cover for the VAT and possibly 'Handling'. Unfortunatelu, there is no way of us knowing in advance whether, or not, such charges will be requested, and currently there is no way of paying for them in advance or at the time of ordering.
We cannot express our sadness and frustration at this situation enough. We apologise profusely for this inconvenience and potentially extra cost when sending items from the UK to the EU caused by recent political irrationality.
The VAT included within our website prices will be deducted and shown correctly in the online shopping cart for goods to be sent outside the UK.

FAQ on deliveries to the European Union (EU)
"I’ve ordered online from Great Britain previously and haven’t been charged Customs Charges. Am I being charged Customs Charges because of Brexit?"
Yes, Great Britain is no longer a member of the European Union and in accordance with relevant VAT law, there is a requirement that VAT is calculated/charged on all Non-EU goods.
- From 1 January 2021: VAT will be calculated/charged on Non-EU items over €22 and for items over €150 VAT and Customs Duties will be charged
- From 1 July 2021: VAT & Customs Duties will be calculated/charged on all non-EU items (previously only items containing goods above €22)
- It is mandatory for the national post operator of the receiving country to collect these charges on behalf of Revenue. The national post operator of the receiving country is unable to deliver your item until this charge has been paid.
1. Application
These terms govern the sale by MEKUTI (the seller) to YOU (the buyer) of Products ordered by you and accepted by MEKUTI.
The buyers acceptance of the Products shall be deemed to constitute acceptance of these terms.
2. Orders
2.1 All orders placed by YOU are subject to acceptance by MEKUTI.
2.2 MEKUTI reserves the right to revise prices, limit quantities, correct errors on the website and refuse orders at their discretion, without limitation. Except as may otherwise be permitted by applicable law, YOU may not cancel an order which MEKUTI has accepted without the agreement in writing of MEKUTI, which requirement may be waived by MEKUTI from time to time at their sole discretion.
2.3 Acceptance of your order is no guarantee that the size and colour of your choice is in stock. You will be offered an alternative or a refund in this instance.
2.4 Trade Order Promotional Codes are strictly only available for use by Trade Customers authorised by MEKUTI in advance.
2.5 Trade Orders will be validated before processing and may be cancelled if they don't comply with the Terms & Conditions, in such a case.
2.6 MEKUTI reserves the right to de-authorise or vary the terms of use of the Trade Order Promotional Codes.
2.7 MISUSE or UNAUTHORISED USE of 'Trade' or 'Promotional' codes.
Such discount codes are only valid with pre-authorisation, and orders will not be accepted if they are invalid or not expressly provided by MEKUTI directly. Orders placed that have had an applied code which has been obtained by any other means than a direct communication with MEKUTI will not be accepted and the money paid will be refunded LESS an initial charge of £3.60 plus 48 pence per item.
3. Delivery
MEKUTI will endeavour to deliver your order between 3 to 5 **business days** via Royal Mail (UK only) when the items are in stock, but may take up to 28 days following your order. There may also be seasonal variations.
PLEASE NOTE the 'Priority Tracked 24' service DOES NOT guarantee next **business day** delivery, but they are processed first within any given daily batch of orders received.
We have found that the Royal Mail's Tracked 24 service is also processed as a priority within their delivery system, making it more likely to arrive on the next business day. A Tracking Reference is issued to access more information on the Royal Mail website.

MEKUTI shall not be liable for any cost or damage caused by late or non-delivery of your order.
MEKUTI reserves the right to deliver the items on an individual order in instalments. MEKUTI will endeavour to provide more information or offer alternatives if there is likely to be a delay.
NON or DELAYED DELIVERY: For UK deliveries, the Royal Mail service does not regard an item as being 'lost' until 15 business days have elapsed. However, MEKUTI regards this delay is too long for our preferred customer service level. Non-delivery of items should therefore be notified if they have not been received within 7 days from the emailed despatch notice.
4. Payment
All payments for Products are to be made in GB Pounds Sterling (£). Goods are paid for at the time of ordering. MEKUTI reserves the right, by giving notice within 24 hours of an order being placed, to reject the Order or vary the price of the items due to any factor beyond their control. Any change to the prices shown at the time of ordering will be avoided wherever possible.
All prices shown on the website are inclusive of VAT at the current rate, where applicable. All International deliveries may incur Handling and/or Customs Duties which are the receiver's responsibility to pay. Unfortunately, MEKUTI are not able to advise or include any charges in advance, they are not included in the prices shown, and it is advisable to check with the authorities in the destination country if this is of concern.

5a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee (Mekuti Trial Period Guarantee)
The 'Trial Period' to test the equipment in the dog's own situation of 30 DAYS has now been extended to 45 DAYS. The number of days starts from the date of DELIVERY, not the date the order was placed.
5a.1 The Mekuti Trial Period Guarantee covers Mekuti branded items sold by MEKUTI on this website for a period of 45 days after receipt of the items. The Mekuti Trial Period Guarantee does not cover Mekuti branded items sold by any third party, such as qualified dog trainers. Any item returned under this guarantee (and within the qualifying period) is eligible for a full refund of the goods value. Returns within 28 days will also be refunded with the Standard UK P+P rate at the time of purchase.
5a.2 We recommend that you obtain proof of posting for returned items. Statutory rights under the Distance Selling Regulations are unaffected. The 30 Day Money Back Guarantee or 'Trial Period' does not extend to equipment sold on to a third party.
5a.3 This 30-Day Money Back Guarantee covers for general usage of equipment for a trial period, MEKUTI retain the right to extend this period in certain circumstances where re-training or instruction may be involved. The intention is that the buyer has a fair opportunity to trial the equipment to ensure it is suitable. In return the buyer must take care of the equipment during that time and maintain it in a serviceable and potentially re-sellable condition, ensuring the dog does not get an opportunity to bite or chew or cause any damage to any part of the equipment in any way.
5a.4 Mekuti Harnesses and Leads ARE NOT BITE OR CHEW RESISTANT and can be bitten through to failure.
Mekuti cannot offer refunds for harnesses, leads or other items that have been damaged or broken by dogs chewing or biting the material or damaging the plastic clips. In order to reduce the likelihood of this happening, it is best not to leave your dog unattended and that the harness is fitting comfortably (especially not too tight). Be particularly mindful if your dog is a puppy or under 18 months old. ALL young dogs like to chew, especially the ones which look the most innocent.
5a.5 Returned items for REFUND must be received by MEKUTI no later than 65 days from the date of original purchase after which only a discretionary partial refund will be applicable.
5a.6 If a returned item is damaged or needs to be laundered after it is returned it may effect our ability to refund the total amount and only a partial refund may be applied. Please also see Clause 6 below for further information on Returned Items.
5a.7 A RETURN NUMBER is NOT REQUIRED before sending anything back either for a Refund or Exchange. However, the Sender and Order need to be identified, so please write your Last Name and Invoice No on the outside of the box. It is helpful if you send us an email and short note within the box to let us know what you intend to do so we can match things up when your return arrives.
5a.8 IMPORTANT: For Mekuti products purchased through a third party or reseller, please refer to them for their own Returns and Guarantee Policy.
Please be aware that the MEKUTI landline number is also our family house phone.
Outside of normal business hours, it is ideally for domestic use only e.g. during evenings, weekends and certainly any day before 10:30 am when we are usually attending to the cats and dogs! Your call may still be answered but we are not really 'open' during these traditionally non-business hours. Having said that, we also respect that sometimes people can only make their own personal calls during evenings and weekends so we will always be as accommodating and helpful as we can.
5b Returns for Exchange.
5b.1 Items for EXCHANGE must be notified in advance. Last Name and Invoice Number should be written clearly on the outside of the package, so the sender can be identified. We recommend a proof of posting is obtained just in case anything goes missing, in which case a claim may be made to Royal Mail.
5b.2 Shipping charges for Exchanges for Colour
EXCHANGES for COLOUR will be despatched on receipt of the item to be exchanged free of charge. If the CUSTOMER wishes Items to be despatched on request, a nominal shipping charge will be applied at the lower standard rate (currently £3.90) and must be paid in advance.
5b.3 Shipping charges for Exchanges for Size
For EXCHANGES for SIZE, shipping will be charged at the lower standard rate in addition to, or apportioned against the difference in price of the items. These exchanges will be sent out on request and upon receipt of any payment required.
5b.4 Shipping charges for INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGES of all kinds will be charged at the lower rate for the area of destination. Handling, Import or Customs charges which may have been applied by the receiving Country cannot be refunded.
5b.5 All returned items must be clean, free from animal smells and free from hair or fur and may be subject to a minimum of £3.60 handling charge.
5b.6 IMPORTANT: Items to be returned for EXCHANGE must be received within 28 days from the date of exchange. Items not received by that time will be invoiced in full with settlement due within 14 days of invoice.
6. Cancellations and Refunds
6.1 If the Buyer wishes to cancel the order before the goods have been despatched, MEKUTI must be notified by email or letter stating your name, address and order number and that you wish to cancel the goods. If you wish to cancel the order after you have received the goods this is covered under the thirty day guarantee as stated in Section 5 (above). There is no need to obtain a RETURNS NUMBER but it is helpful to let us know in advance. The correct postage for the return must be paid to return the Order but only the value of the goods and the original P+P can be refunded.
6.2 Under the Distance Selling Regulations (2000), the Buyer has a duty to take reasonable care of the goods whilst in their possession. The Buyer is entitled to a full refund for any of the goods ordered, including 'standard' post and packing.
6.2a Refunds for P+P will be limited to the contemporary charge for the Standard service. This means that orders placed using any PRIORITY TRACKED option will be limited to amount of the equivalent Standard option at the time or ordering.
6.2b If goods are returned using a 'store to store' service where we have to go out and collect it from somewhere there will be a £6.00 Collection Charge applied and deducted from any Refund amount.
6.2c Refunds for P+P and Shipping of returned items sent to destinations outside the UK will be limited to a maximum of £12.00
6.2d Items sent to destinations outside the UK, but returned by because of failure by the Recipient to pay Duties or any other charges will have the full amount of the original P+P or Shipping deducted from any Refund.
6.3 For goods returned under the 30 DAY GUARANTEE provision and purchased using a Promotional or Trade related code, any refund will be deducted the value of the original discount allowed IN ADDITION to the reduced purchase price applied by the discount code. (Explanation, for clarification: If the discount code reduced the purchase price by 5% then the refund amount will be reduced by a further 5%)
6.4 If any goods are returned damaged then Mekuti retain the right to offer a lower level of refund to reflect any such damage including damage to outer packaging if this reduces the re-sale value. (In exceptional cases this could mean that you receive no money for damaged goods).
6.5 We cannot offer refunds or replacements for harnesses, leads or other items that have been damaged by dogs including chewing or biting any part of the equipment. The Manufacturer's Product Guarantee only applies to faulty workmanship or faulty components such as metal rings, metal trigger hooks and plastic clips which have not been otherwise damaged.
6.5a The metal fixings on harnesses, collars and leads require maintenance after coming into contact with water (particularly sea water) or damp seaside air etc. To avoid rust or discolouration, these parts must be rinsed regularly and treated with a suitable water repellant. All harnesses must be kept and stored in dry conditions and out of any damp areas. Damage caused by failure to do this is not covered by the Manufacturer's Product Guarantee.
6.6 All returned items must be clean, free from animal smells and free from hair or fur and may be subject to a £3.60 handling charge per item.
6.7 Please allow 14 days from receipt of Returned Items for the processing of Refunds back to payment method.
6.8 Items returned marked as 'Return To Sender', or returned because of non-collection, or returned because of non-delivery because of incorrect address details supplied, will have the original P+P charge deducted from any Refund.
7. Warranty
7.1 Subject to the limitations on its liability set out in these terms, MEKUTI warrants that the Products will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of delivery. MEKUTI shall be under no liability in respect of any defect arising from fair wear and tear, willful damage, negligence, abnormal working conditions or misuse. If YOU notify MEKUTI of a valid claim under this warranty within the one year period MEKUTI will replace or repair the Product or refund the cost of the Product (not including post and packing), at MEKUTI's discretion, but MEKUTI shall have no other liability to YOU. Please note that if YOU return equipment under this warranty the goods should be in a clean and dry condition.
7.2 TAKE SPECIAL CARE WHEN WALKING NEAR THE SEA – salt will corrode and damage metal parts and may cause increased wear to the webbing which will invalidate the guarantee, consequently it is very important to rinse off any salt water and make sure there is no salt or sand left on the harness.
7.3 It is the buyer's responsibility, important for the safety of the dog, and to ensure the equipment remains in a workable condition to ensure that the dog does not get an opportunity to bite, or chew, or soil the equipment. This can cause the equipment to fail and be unsafe for any kind of use and such damage cannot therefore be covered by the manufacturing defect warranty under this clause. This means if the dog has damaged the harness, we cannot offer a free exchange. Biting and chewing is a particular danger with young dogs.
7.4 In the case of the Mekuti Balance Harness & Lead system, the equipment is designed to help dogs walk without pulling by using a double-ended lead with two points of contact as described in and in accordance with the instructions. Wear and tear caused by any misuse of the equipment, or by being used under constant tension, or being used with a single point of contact, or being used for any other purpose than those described in the instructions can also not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
7.5 Buyers and end users can always contact Mekuti at any date to obtain advice on how to use the equipment or request further guidance within reason or a request copy of the instructions regardless of where the products were bought from, either direct from Mekuti or any reseller.
8. Liability
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit MEKUTI's liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by its negligence or any other liability to the extent that the same may be excluded or limited as a matter of law. Without prejudice to the previous sentence, MEKUTI shall not be liable for any loss of income or profits or for any indirect or consequential loss or damage of any kind howsoever arising and whether caused by the negligence of MEKUTI, breach or non-performance or any of the obligations under these Terms or otherwise. These Terms set out the full extent of MEKUTI's obligations and liabilities in respect of the sale of the Products. In particular there are no conditions, warranties or other terms, expressed or implied, as to satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, or any other kind whatsoever, that are binding on MEKUTI except as specifically stated in these Terms. Any condition, warranty or other term concerning the sale of these Products, which might otherwise be implied into or incorporated within these Terms by statute, common law or otherwise, is excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law. If YOU are a consumer the exclusion of terms implied by law will not apply to you.
9. General Conditions
MEKUTI shall not be liable to YOU for any loss or damage which YOU might suffer arising from MEKUTI's delay in fulfilling or failure to fulfill any obligations under these terms to the extent that such delay or failure is caused by circumstances beyond MEKUTI's reasonable control. These Terms and any terms appearing on any other form to which these terms apply constitute the entire agreement between YOU and MEKUTI relating to the Products. The failure of MEKUTI or YOU to enforce any of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that term and shall in no way affect the right later to enforce the term. The invalidity or enforceability of any clause of these Terms shall not adversely affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions. No amendment, variation or addition to these Terms shall be binding unless agreed to in writing by MEKUTI. These Terms will be construed in accordance with the laws of England and any disputes shall be settled by the English courts.
10. PRIVACY POLICY & WEBSITE SECURITY
10.1 The Mekuti website is a 'secure' site where any information provided at any stage of the ordering or enquiry process is encrypted and private. You can check the secure status (SSL) of the site by finding the padlock at the top of your browser.
10.2 MEKUTI will retain your name, address, telephone number, email address and order history solely for the purpose of supplying your order. We do not supply these details to any third parties, except where necessary for carrying out the supply of your order. Such details are governed by The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 (a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU), and the Data Protection Act 1998. Under these Regulations, you are entitled to have a copy of any details held by Mekuti. It is your legal right to request removal of your personal details at any time.
10.3 Cookies are not used on our website in a form that can identify the visitor as an individual but general Google Analytical functions are used to map the duration, the throughput and frequency of visits in order that we may be able to monitor performance, improve the function and clarity of the website. This function can be modified and turned off by you (the visitor) by switching on 'private browsing' on changing the cookie settings in your internet browser.
10.4 All information entered in any part of the shopping experience is fully encrypted. Once an item is placed in the 'shopping cart', data is transferred to our integrated shopping cart handlers who use cookies to keep track of items in your cart which is necessary to process your order and maintain the cart should the visitor's connection be interrupted. Our online Shopping Cart will display an itemised list of the products and any Post & Packing BEFORE you enter any personal or payment details except for the location of delivery to work out your Shipping options. Only by proceeding to the Checkout are your personal details entered (these can be retained for your next purchase if you request it – it is not automatic).
10.5 Credit, Debit Card and PayPal payments handling and authorisation are processed by SagePay (also known as Opayo), who provide our online merchant services. You will receive an email from Romancart notifying you of your purchase. If for any reason there will be an significant delay in supplying any of your items, we will endeavour to inform you to give you the options of changing it or to cancel. Only enough payment details are retained to process any refund which may be applicable for a single order. Mekuti can not process any further payments or orders without customers supplying the information again.
10.6 Mekuti does not pass or sell email addresses, personal details or order details to anyone.
10.7 If you have chosen to accept marketing emails from us then we may send an email to you occasionally featuring any company news, special offers or product information. These will be no more than two contacts in any one year. You can choose to remove yourself from the mailing list when you receive any of these emails. Since May 2018, this is an OPT IN feature.

12. Defined Terms
"MEKUTI" (the seller) means Mekuti, Glendale, Newlay Wood Avenue, Horsforth, West Yorkshire, LS18 4LN.
"YOU" or "CUSTOMER" (the buyer) means the purchaser of any Product(s) or Item(s) from MEKUTI.
"RECIPIENT" means the person to whom the delivery is addressed, and is responsible for any Handling, import or Customs charges which may be applied in the receiving Country.
"TERMS" means these Terms and Conditions of sale.
"PRODUCTS" and "ITEMS" means anything listed for sale on the Mekuti website.
